[Konan hasn't been seen around in the last month, courtesy of the Malnosso. She has returned, but she looks considerably younger than anyone is used to seeing her. Konan appears to be somewhere between eight and nine years old, and she's looking rather distressed as she looks into the book's video feed.]

I can't break this genjutsu, Jiraiya-sensei. Please cancel it. Or Yahiko and Nagato - if you're out of it, please help. It's been almost two hours and I can't break out of it.

[Almost two hours and she's hungry. She's doubting the information she's gotten largely because she knows genjutsu can be deceptive and she's been trying to be as rational as she can be about her situation.]

We can try again after lunch, but let's stop training for now, okay?


(ooc: Konan's memories have been tampered with, but they're not completely gone. Faces of her established CR will be familiar to her and with some help, she will be able to remember a few things - like art club or if she's played chess with your character, etc.)

[Genjutsu. Jiraiya-sensei. Yahiko and Nagato. He would always be glad to help children in distress, but those names that he recognizes makes this particularly urgent. And it starts to give him an idea of just who this could be - but he has room for doubt.

So he looks into the journal and speaks carefully into it, as if into a microphone.]

Excuse me, Miss. Did you mention Jiraiya-sama? You should know that there is likely no genjutsu in effect currently.

[Konan is cautious, especially since he knows what genjutsu is, but she remembers to think things through and not jump to conclusions. A good shinobi was supposed to read between the lines and analyze.]

I did. Do you know where Jiraiya-sensei is?

[His heart sank as he contemplated the answer. Jiraiya is dead. He had gone back home to die.]

Jiraiya-sama... He's not here. He is back in the world that we hail from. This may be hard to believe, especially for another shinobi, but we have been entrapped within an entirely different world.

[She's not happy at the news and she's trying not to be rude, but this sounds pretty ridiculous to her.]

It is the only possibility, I am afraid. There are many creatures and concepts here which are not possible back home. This book itself is beyond anything we have back home... not to mention that I have been trapped here for months, and some of my friends who are among the skilled shinobi I know, have been trapped here for over a year. There is no genjutsu that can last so long.

This world has some unknown properties, which brings people from other worlds. And, just as abruptly and randomly, they can be returned to their homes as well. Jiraiya-sama was here for some months, but we eventually discovered that he had been sent back home.

[She's gradually starting to believe that this is likely not a genjutsu. Jiraiya is imaginative, but she doesn't think he'd come up with a boy with an arrow on his head.]

Mm hmm. Have you seen a man with long white hair, a boy with orangey spiky hair and a boy with red hair about as long as mine?

Let's see... the only boys I know with hair like that are older than you. Silver's hair is red and pretty long... but I did meet a guy with long white hair once! [Thank Jiraiya for having that unique quality.] Is he old? And he had some kinda red paint on his face...

It would be better if we were all together, but if Yahiko and Nagato have each other and Jiraiya-sensei is here I'm sure we can figure something out.

Jiraiya? I think that was his name! He was doing something silly in a tree, I remember that! [He smiles at remembering him, but then it fades a bit.] But I haven't seen him since a few months ago. He might not still be here. Still, I'm sure your friends are okay back home.

[Oh gosh, another child. And someone he likes. Is this a pattern developing? He hopes not. Well, he'll go look in on her and make certain she's all right. Perhaps drop her off with someone that can watch her, since he has to focus on the project right now.

She's easy to locate, since she's one of the few mortals he's warded. Loki simply teleports out to the location. From what little he knows of Konan, he somehow doubts a sudden appearance will really startle her that much.]

[It startles her only briefly. Then he registers as a familiar face. The fact that he knows her name supports that. She can't remember his name, but she's fairly sure he's a friend.]

Hello. I'm very sorry, but I don't remember your name. I know I've seen you before, though.

[Konan's stomach growls audibly. After training vigorously and roaming around here for two hours after that with mysterious wings on her back, she's worked up an appetite.]

Do you know where I could get something to eat, Loki? I'm a little hungry.

[Little being an understatement, but she's not going to use expressions like 'starving'. She knows what it's like to experience actual starvation.]

[Shikamaru's been back from that mission that went awry for just a few hours now. Long enough to sleep, even if it's just a few hours. He feels tired, but his body's more than rested so there's a conflict of interests there.

He's not really interested in talking to a lot of people, but he's killing time looking at the journals... and ends up making an exception.]

Don't worry kid. [He's read above and assuming she's getting a better grasp of things by now.] There could be worst genjutsus, if this were one.

I know it isn't now...but I didn't think Jiraiya-sensei would use a really bad genjutsu on me for training until he was sure I could handle it.

[Instead, she'd just wandered around a place that looked familiar and yet not and learned her way around, as was the logical thing to do.]

The only thing that really hurt was the wings.

[Ha, good point. He remembers showing up here, and thinking something similar. When people start saying things like 'kidnapped', a shinobi thinks of scarier places than this one.]
