IC contact post/Appointments

(Feel free to use this post to have your character ICly contact Konan about things. This can be done through journals, or through her origami. If she's given your character origami before and they've either guessed or been told that she can use it as an extension of her senses, they can use it.

[He doesn't break eye contact with her as he swallows this lump that threatened to hinder his question. Without further delay, Minato just comes out with it with his most neutral, calm voice.]

Do you know a man named 'Jiraiya'?

[Simple and straight to the point. He'd really rather not beat around the bush.]

[...oh. There's a topic that she hoped to avoid. She had the chance to speak to Jiraiya and to make her peace with him eventually before the Malnosso sent him away. It seems that the past will continue to haunt her. The worst part is knowing that she deserves it. What she and Nagato did was nothing short of betrayal.]

I do. He's one of the Legendary Sannin.

[She nods her head, though she doesn't elaborate. She can take responsibility for her actions without disclosing more details than necessary.]

[He remains calm even when she didn't say anything more than what's obvious. Minato already expected she won't just come out of it, anyway, so with the same tone, he continues.]

I see. [A contemplative nod.] I have been informed that this group called the 'Akatsuki' is responsible for his death and that this same group attacked our village - the same thing you mentioned you and this Nagato person did.

[He leaves it at that, feeling he had made his point clear, that he knows what he should know.]

That is correct. Nagato and I were two of the three original founders of Akatsuki...although the organization has changed dramatically from what it was to what it is now.

[But that's not what he came to find out about and now that he was more specific, she will be as well.]

On the day that Jiraiya died, he infiltrated Ame to gain information.

[He listens on and visibly frowns further at her words. The more his suspicions are getting proven, the more his heart races.]

And then?

[And then you and your organization killed him, Minato wants to add but he wants it to come from Konan herself.]

I found him hiding within the shadow of an Ame shinobi and when he incapacitated me, Nagato fought and killed him in battle. The rest of the Akatsuki had nothing to do with his death.

[Although under different circumstances, one of the others might. Much as she regrets her involvement in Jiraiya's death, some of it was simply circumstantial. If not for their past history, there wouldn't have been anything personal about it.

It's something she's reflected on in her time here. She'd simply shut herself off from most of her emotions - perhaps an admirable quality in a shinobi, but it made her cold and calculating and able to attack her old teacher without hesitation.]

[Minato already expected she'd say it but it still managed to hurt a lot when he heard it. His hands balling in tight fists on his lap, he lets his expression fall even for a little while. Death is not something foreign to him. He's a shinobi, his hands are stained with so many people's blood, most of them nameless soldiers only following orders.

But for a death to have a name so close to his heart is another matter entirely.]

[So much so that Minato frowns and rises to his feet without any further thought.]

Thank you for the information.

[Glancing at the direction of the closed door, he turns to make his leave.]

[Konan nods and rises to see him out.]

I am sorry for your loss and for my contribution to it, Namikaze-san.

[She can't even call it her loss, even if she does feel sad about Jiraiya's death and her part in it. She doesn't deserve to call it her loss. Not anymore. Making peace with Jiraiya was a little more benign than she deserved, even, but she has been trying to atone.]

[Before completely leaving, Minato glances at her with a frown. Considering the gravity of the information he had heard, he's still relatively calm and his voice when he speaks should attest to that.]

I accept your apology. [A beat as his voice turns a little lower, almost hinted with sadness and unsung anger.] But it won't bring my Sensei back to life.
